Lightning Pictures from the May 4th Storm

I went to see the new movie Avengers at midnight opening night last week with some people from work; when we got out of the movie around 2:45am on fri there was a storm rolling in. I got this crazy idea to chase it, but that didnt work out so well. Instead i went up on the northside of Wichita around 39th and Rock (I think? By that QT north of Sam's) and sat in the parking lot. A few of the pictures are from there and some are from the drive on my way there from the East Warren. The first four pictures are actual lightning bolts, one is of a rainshaft and the rest are of cloud lightning. I took all of these on my iPhone.

This one is right next to the second telephone pole near the middle of the picture.

Rain Shaft.

The rest of these are just some crazy cloud lightning.

Portfolio Cover Designs for Design2.

Portfolio Cover Designs for Design2.

After trying a 3D approach, I decided to stick to a flat image for this project.
I could use some more practice with 3D imaging I think.

A lot of Sketches from Design 2 and 3D Design from throughout the semester.

"Nate's" My new bar design!

This is my public building that i have been designing for Design 2. Starting at the top and moving down is the process of how it developed and the 3 pictures at the bottom are of the final. It starts out with just some sketches and moves into more detailed plans once i get my ideas set more solidly. If you read the picture of the paper, it will explain all of it.

Public Bar and Pool by Nate Skinner
Location: Maui, Hawaii

20’ x 40’ Bar
20’ x 40’ Pool
20’ x 40’ Outdoor Semi-covered Seating Area

Bar = Recycled wood, Stucco, Marble Bar Tops
Pool = Concrete with a rubber liner
Outdoor Seating = Retired Railroad Ties as the beams,
and Stumps for the Table/Stools

Special Features:

The Salt Water Pool uses salt as its cleanser instead of toxic chemicals and it recycles ocean water as a means of replenishing itself when it gets low and when emptied for cleaning purposes.

The open air style of the Bar and Seating Area help conserve energy by using the natural breeze off of the ocean as a cooler and there is no heater needed being in a tropical environment.
